The SG100K Cognitive Health Program

Research has persistently highlighted the genetic underpinnings of cognitive performance, and cognitive deficits have emerged as a profound component of the functional impairments associated with mental illnesses, cardiometabolic disease and neurodegenerative disorders.

The investigation of cognition and its association with related disease traits could facilitate better understanding of cognitive health and related treatment strategies.

Despite Asians comprising a significant portion of the world’s population, large-scale efforts to study cognitive genomics in non-European populations are conspicuously absent.

The SG100K cohort, as the only national biobank in Asia conducting cognitive phenotyping, presents an unparalleled opportunity to fill this gap and extend our understanding of cognitive dysfunction and disease manifestation across populations.

The aim of the present study is three-fold:
(i) to identify novel genomic loci associated with cognitive phenotypes and establish the genetic underpinnings of cognitive function across diverse populations;
(ii) to establish biological convergence between cognitive function and disease traits;
(iii) to establish epidemiological and genomic risk prediction of cognitive health.

This information is crucial for developing predictive models and decision support systems to improve patient care and
